The Mother church was built in the 18th Century and substitutes the old Mother church that collapsed during the earthquake of 1755. It has only one ship, ands 4 lateral chapels. Above the arch of the main door and above the triumphal arch is the Cross of Aviz, a Military Religious Order that once owned Albufeira.
