Friar Vicente of Santo António was born in 1590 in the Town of Albufeira. After his parents' death he becomes a priest and soon afterwards sails for Mexico where he enters the Ordem de Santo Agostinho. After many difficulties, he got to carry out his dream, to preach Christ's Faith in Japan.
 There he was thrown in jail for two years, during which he was tortured in order to renounce the Christian Faith. As he did not, he was caged and, on September 3, 1632, burned at the stake.
