Pedra Mourinha is a suburb from Portimão that got its name from an enormous sienite stone originating from of the Serra de Monchique, some 20 km away. It is not clear how it got there and one should consider the possibility that prehistoric man transported it. In that case, the Pedra Mourinha is a megalithic monument, very probably a menhir (standing stone). |
